In law enforcement, physical fitness isn’t just a bonus – it’s a necessity. However, the traditional fitness standards, like the Cooper Standard, fail to adequately measure the diverse physical capabilities required for modern policing.

We believe in pushing boundaries and setting new standards. The EFT Standard Tests represent a paradigm shift, aiming to equip law enforcement officers with the physical prowess necessary to excel in their roles. By challenging the conventional norms, we're striving to redefine what it means to be truly fit for duty.

Here are the EFT Standard Tests:

Note: These tests are not done all at once, they are spread over a 7 day period as a test week.

The "Why" Behind Each...

You may be asking yourself "why these?" (we hope that you are asking - knowing the why is a major factor in taking action. Each component of the EFT Standard Tests is carefully designed to assess specific aspects of physical fitness crucial for law enforcement officers.

The Max Reps Burpees in 60 Seconds gauge explosive power and cardiovascular endurance, reflecting the need for quick bursts of energy during high-intensity situations.

Similarly, the Max Reps Pullups in 1 Set test upper body strength and pulling ability, essential for tasks like scaling walls or pulling oneself to safety.

The 3 Rep Max Deadlift evaluates lower body and core strength, vital for lifting heavy objects or engaging in physical altercations, as well as building a durable and resilient low back.

The Suitcase Carry challenges grip strength and overall stability, simulating scenarios where officers need to carry or drag heavy loads.

The 400m Run For Time measures pure speed and endurance, mimicking pursuits or urgent responses.

The EFT Tactical Agility Test and the EFT Work Capacity Test delve into the realm of tactical readiness and sustained performance, ensuring officers can navigate complex environments and maintain peak efficiency over extended periods.

We're TRAINING, Not Working Out

Yes, there's a difference. The difference is that training is very purposeful and intentional. There's a reason behind everything you're doing and an end goal you're looking to achieve, typically in a designated time frame. As for working out, you're looking for the short term "feel good."

The EFT Standard Tests aren’t just a random assortment of exercises; they're a carefully curated selection that reflects the multifaceted nature of law enforcement duties. From confronting suspects to rescuing civilians, officers must possess a diverse skill set that goes beyond mere strength or speed. By encompassing various aspects of fitness – from strength and endurance to agility and tactical acumen – our tests provide a comprehensive evaluation of an officer's physical capabilities.

Developed by a team of experienced law enforcement officers and tactical strength coaches, the EFT Tactical Agility Test is more than just an obstacle course. It's a simulation of real-world scenarios, where split-second decisions and physical agility can mean the difference between life and death. By incorporating elements like crawling, rapid direction changes, and weapon presentation, this test prepares officers for the unpredictable nature of law enforcement operations.

The EFT Work Capacity Test serves as a litmus test for an officer's overall fitness and resilience. By combining elements of strength, endurance, and mental fortitude, it simulates the demands of a typical day on the job. The grueling circuit – comprising a challenging run sandwiched between rounds of bodyweight exercises – pushes participants to their limits, testing not only their physical abilities but also their ability to perform under pressure.

In law enforcement, physical fitness isn't just about looking good; it's about being prepared for anything. Officers need to be able to lift heavy objects, chase down suspects, and maintain their composure during high-stress situations. That's why each component of the EFT Standard Tests was carefully selected to reflect these critical aspects of the job. By excelling in these areas, officers can not only enhance their own safety but also better serve and protect their communities.
